Kings upend West End 6-2

Nov. 26--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings defeated West End Bruins 6-2 Wednesday in Thunder Bay Minor Hockey midget AA league play at Fort William First Nation Arena.

Scoring for the Kings were Miguel Lavoie with the hattrick, Brad Cox with a pair and Matthew Alexander notching his first of the season.

A short-staffed Kings squad used four affiliate players in this one with Eric Burton picking up two assists while Rob DeGagne and Devin Fullum had a helper apiece. Cody Zeigler also played a strong game as the fourth A.P. to see action.

Brennen Heinrich had both West End goals in a losing cause.

The Kings next action will be in Faribault, Minn., Dec. 5-7 at they take part in the Shattuck-St. Mary's invitational tournament.

Kings & Hurricanes skate to 2-2 tie

Nov. 24--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings and Fort William Hurricanes played to a 2-2 tie in The Thunder Bay Minor Midget AA Hockey League Monday at Delaney Arena.

Bryce Maggrah and Brad Cox tallied for the Kings in this one while the Herks got scoring from Jesse Asunmaa and Kevin Melenchuk.

Kings share first with win

Nov. 19--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings earned a share of first place in the midget AA division of the Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association Wednesday with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Fort William Canadiens at First Nation Arena.

Leading the way for the Kings were Bryce Knapp and Nathan Cull who both had a goal and two assists with Knapp receiving the team player of the game award. Bryce Maggrah and Ryan Tront were the other scorers.

Justin Affleck, Dylan Butler and Jeff Vaillant tallied for the Canadiens.

With the win the Kings are now tied with the Canadiens in the standings with 12 points apiece while also holding a game in hand.

The next game action for the Kings is Nov. 26 when they take on the West End Bruins at rink #2 at FWFNA. Game time is 8:15 p.m.

Bearcats hand Kings first loss in Midget AA play

Nov. 12--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings suffered their first loss in Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Midget AA league play Wednesday falling 3-1 to the Volunteer Pool Bearcats.

Trevor Hynnes lead the way for V.P. scoring twice while Josh Himanen had the other.

Bryce Knapp was the lone Kings marksman.

The next league action for the AAA bantams is Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Fort William First Nation Arena against the Fort William Canadiens. Game time is 8 p.m.

Thunder Bay C&D Kings go 2-2 at Big Nickel

Nov. 11--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings returned home from the Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury over the weekend finishing play with a 2-2 record.

In their opener
they started out strong with a 4-0 win over the North Central Predators.

Matthew Murray picked up the shutout as he earned player of the game honours for his effort.

Bryce Knapp led the way offensively with a pair of goals with Miguel Lavoie and Sal Pelaia adding singles.

In the next game the Kings took an early two-goal lead against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, but fell into penalty problems, which led to an eventual 5-3 loss that was finally decided with an empty net goal.

Pelaia tallied twice and added an assist as he earned the team's game star award. Brandon Wolframe chipped in with a goal and an assist.

A five-point game and player of the game laurels for Bryce Maggrah in the Kings next contest paced the squad as they dumped the Eastern Ontario Wild 6-1. He had a hat-trick and also supplied two helpers.

Andrew Crupi, with two, and Brandon Wolrame were the other Thunder Bay marksmen.

In their finale the Kings fell 3-0 to the Guelph Jr. Storm in a hard-fought contest.

Brad Cox was named Kings player of the game in that one.

The team now returns to Midget AA league play with a match-up against the Volunteer Pool Bearcats at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday over on rink #2 at Fort William First Nation Arena.

The Kings next tournament goes Dec. 5-7 in Faribault, Minn., as they compete in the Shattuck-St. Mary's Invitational.

C&D Kings stay unbeaten

Oct. 29--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings remained unbeaten in Thunder Bay Midget AA league play following a 6-3 victory Wednesday over the Fort William Canadiens at First Nation Arena. The team is now 5-0 against midget AA competition after this one as they handed the Canadiens their first loss of the year.

Bryce Maggrah led the Kings offensively with two goals and two assists, Nathan Cull, with a pair, along with Miguel Lavoie and Andrew Crupi were the other AAA bantam marksmen while Brad Cox chipped in with four assists.

The Kings are now off to Sudbury Nov. 6-8 for the Big Nickel Tournament.

The club's next League action will be Wednesday, Nov. 12 at FWFNA vs. the Volunteer Pool Bearcats.

Kings improve to 4-0 in TBMHA midget AA play

Oct. 27--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings continued their winning ways in the midget AA division of Thunder Bay Minor Hockey skating to a 7-0 victory over the Fort William Hurricanes at Delaney Arena on Monday evening.

Nathan Cull had a big night for the AAA bantams scoring three times and adding an assist.

Brad Cox chipped in with a pair of markers while Miguel Lavoie and Brandon Wolframe added singles.

Tim Cavar was a plus-5 for the night and Matthew Murray posted the shut out in goal.

The next game action for the C&D Sports Kings is Oct. 29 when they take on the Fort William Canadiens at First Nation Arena. Game time is 8:15 p.m. over at rink #2.  

Third straight win TBMHA midget AA play

Oct. 22--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings survived a third period comeback by the Current River Comets to secure a 4-2 win Wedneday night at First Nations Arena.

Bryce Maggrah, Miguel Lavoie, Andrew Crupi and Nathan Cull each scored for the Kings with Brad Cox chipping in with a pair of assists.

Josh  DeHaan and Eric Bayko, with a power play marker, replied for the Comets.

Next action for the C&D Kings is 7.30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 at Delaney Arena.

Kings start 2-0 in TBMHA midget AA

Oct. 20--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings picked up their second straight victory in the midget AA division of Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Monday beating the Volunteer Pool Bearcats 9-4 at Delaney Arena.

Andrew Crupi paced the Kings attack firing a hat-trick and adding an assist.

Nathan Cull and Sal Pelaia both chipped in with two goal, one assist performances while Miguel Lavoie and Bryce Knapp added single markers.

Ryan Tront added three assists in the win while Matthew Alexander had a pair of helpers and Tim Cavar had one.

Josh Himanen, Mark Dawd, Doug Nikkila, and Justin Tougas replied for V.P.

Kings open TBMHA midget AA play with win

Oct. 15--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings kicked off play in the midget AA division in the Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association Wednesday skating to a 5-1 victory over the West End Bruins.

Brad Cox and Brandon Wolframe led the way with two goals apiece while Miguel Lavoie adding a short handed marker in the second period.

Andrew Crupi chipped in a pair of assists and Matthew Murray picked up the win in goal.

Matthew Coady scored the lone West End goal.

Next action for the Kings will be at Delaney Arena vs. the Volunteer Pool Bearcats in a 7:30 p.m. start on Monday, Oct. 20.

C&D Sports Kings split weekend series with Shattuck-St. Mary's

Sept. 29--The Thunder Bay C&D Sports Bantam Kings opened the season with a hard fought weekend split vs. the Shattuck-St. Mary's Sabres at Fort William First Nation Arena.

They opened with a 5-4 shootout loss Saturday morning. Nathan Cull led the way offensively with two goals and an assist.

Bryce Maggrah had a goal and assist and Cale Leeson added a marker while Sal Pelaia contributed three assists. Carter McEachern had a solid performance in net for the Kings.

Jordan Jancze had a pair of tallies and an assist for Shattuck.

The Kings rebounded with a 4-1 victory Saturday night. Cull, Maggrah, Ryan Tront and Brad Cox scored for the Kings. Matthew Murray had the win in goal. Scoring the lone goal for Shattuck was Miles Koules.

The rubber match Sunday morning proved to be a very exciting contest as the Kings lead 4-2 late in the third only to run into some penalty trouble and ended up dropping the game 6-5.

Miguel Lavoie tallied twice and dished out an assist for the Kings while Pelaia, Tront and Brandon Wolframe added singles.

Jancze with a pair and a helper and Zachary Stepan adding a goal and assist led Shattuck.

The Kings now prepare for their opening season game in the Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association AA midget division on Wednesday Oct 15. Game time is 8.15 p.m. at FWFNA.
