Pair of former Kings taken in NHL Draft

Two former Thunder Bay Kings were selected in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft held in Ottawa.

Jared Staal, who is currently with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League, was chosen in the second round, 49th overall, by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Meanwhile Paul Karpowich was chosen by the St. Louis Blues in the seventh round, 185th overall. The goaltender will also be off to play division one U.S. college hockey in the fall as he'll attend Clarkson University of the ECAC on a full scholarship.

The Thunder Bay Kings would like to congratulate both players on their acheivement.

Paul Karpowich makes a save during the St. Louis Blues development
camp held June 24-27 in St. Louis, MO.

Earlier this year he secured a full scholarship to play D-1 college hockey in the U.S. with the Clarkson Golden Knights of the ECAC.
Jared Staal becomes the fourth in the family to be drafted by an NHL club joining brothers Eric (Carolina), Jordan (Pittsburgh) & Marc (New York Rangers). All four are former Thunder Bay Kings.
