Mitsubishi Motors Kings Open Weekend with Win

Oct. 17--The Thunder Bay Mitsubishi Motors Major Midget Kings opened their four game exhibition weekend with a 6-1 win over the Soo Indians in Soo, MI.

The six different goal scorers for the Kings were Andrew Wiebe, Joe Szura, Justin Veltri, Mitchell Fox, Spencer Hogan, and Matt Grove. Matt Kaarela chipped in with two assists.

The Kings out shot Soo 34-21 with Colin Dzijacky picking up the win in goal.

The weekend continues Saturday with a game at 9:00 am vs. the Soo Indians and then again at 5:00 p.m. against the Marquette Electricians.

Major Midget Kings Season Underway


The Thunder Bay Mitsubishi Motors Major Midget Kings opened the 2008/2009 season with two victories over the Duluth North Wings on Saturday, September 20/08 south of the border.

In the first game the Kings jumped out to an early three goal lead, only to see the Hermantown, MN based North Wings tie the game early in the third period.

Goals by Sam Dubinsky and Joe Szura sealed the victory. Andrew Wiebe contributed a goal and two assists for the winners.

Goaltender Spencer Malone recorded his victory in a King's uniform.

In the second game goals by Marshall Fox, Josh Elvish and Andrew Wiebe were enough for a hard fought 3-2 King's victory.

Colin Dzijacky picked up the win in goal.

The team travels to Marquette, MI this weekend to take part in the 15 team Marquette Electricians Fall Classic. The Kings open play Thursday against Michigan Elite.
