Major midget Kings edged in NAPHL opener

BLAINE, Minn. – HC Dallas rallied from a pair of one-goal deficits to defeat the Thunder Bay major midget Kings 3-2 Thursday afternoon in North American Prospects Hockey League action in Blaine, Minn.

Thunder Bay took a 1-0 lead after one period of play thanks to a Joel Whillan effort 3:50 into the contest.

The scored stayed that into the final frame after the second stanza went scoreless.

Dallas levelled the proceedings 81 seconds into the third thanks to a Brandon Speights power play effort.

Quintin Loon-Stewardson put the Kings back on top at 4:26 only to see Speights connect again during another man advantage opportunity just over four minutes later to knot the affair at 2-2.

Dallas then got the game-winner courtesy of Connor Hunt with 5:45 to go in regulation.

Thunder Bay outshot Dallas 19-14 with George McBey picking up the win and Ryan Fanti the loss.

Next up for the major midget Kings in NAPHL competition will be a 10 a.m. face-off Friday vs. the Valley Forge Minutemen.
