Gold Medal Classic in Madison awaits major midget Kings

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay major midget Kings are off to Madison, Wis., this weekend to compete in the annual Gold Medal Classic event.

A total of four contests will be on the club’s slate in Wisconsin beginning with an 8:10 p.m. ET encounter Friday vs. Team Illinois.

Saturday has a pair of games on the docket for the Kings.

First up will be a 2:30 p.m. ET match-up against the Sioux Falls Stampede before they wrap-up the day against the host Madison Capitols at 8:10 p.m. ET.

They will then take on Culver Academy from Indiana Sunday morning at 10 a.m. ET to conclude play in the five-team AAA midget event.

The major midgets, as well as their Kings’ minor midget counterparts, will then head to Blaine, Minn., next weekend to finish up regular season play in the North American Prospects Hockey League where they will determine whether they advance to the NAPHL’s Dixon Cup Gold or Silver Division playoffs in Troy, Mich., Feb. 16-19.
