THUNDER BAY – Four of the Thunder Bay Kings clubs will be heading southeast on the Trans Canada Highway later this week to commence play in their respective Northern Ontario leagues.
The under-18 Kings are set to take to the ice to begin Great North U18 Hockey League competition while Thunder Bay’s U13; U14 & U15 squads will suit up in the Northern Ontario Hockey League Showcase in Sudbury.
Game 1 for the U18 Kings in the GNU18L will have them meeting the New Liskeard Cubs Thursday in an 8 p.m. start there at Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena.
The two sides will meet again Friday in New Liskeard with another 8 p.m. face-off.
From there, Thunder Bay heads to Powassan, Ont., for a two-game set versus the North Bay Trappers U16s, Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
As for the U13; U14 and U15s, they’ll each have five contests apiece on their respective slates, at the NOHL Showcase, which gets underway Friday and runs through Sunday at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in Sudbury.
