Kings Colorado bound this weekend
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Both the Thunder Bay major and minor midget Kings are off to Colorado this weekend to compete in round 3 of the North American Prospects Hockey League Friday through Sunday in Superior, Colo.
The major midgets’ initial game out west goes Friday at 5 p.m. as they take Omaha AAA.
Following a short break they’ll return to the ice at 9:30 p.m. for a match-up with the Colorado Springs Tigers.
Saturday’s slate sees one game on the Kings docket as they meet the Madison Capitols at 5:45 p.m.
They will then conclude play Sunday at 3:45 p.m. vs. the Northern Cyclones of New Hampshire.
The major midgets, who are currently 7-0 in Lakehead Junior Hockey League play, are presently sitting tied for 14th spot in the 18-team U-18 division of the NAPHL with a 1-5-1-2 mark.
As for the minor midgets, they too have a pair of contests Friday.
First up for the under-16 side will be the Arizona Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. before finishing up with HC Dallas at 9:45 p.m.
Thunder Bay and Arizona will then meet again Saturday in U-16 action at 5:15 p.m. before they conclude competition Sunday at 1:15 p.m. against the Everett Jr. Silvertips from Washington State.
In the 17-team U-16 division of the NAPHL, the minor midgets Kings share fifth place with Everett, boasting a 5-3-0-1 overall record.
