Kings present awards at year-end banquet
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Kings AAA Kings hockey organization held their annual year-end banquet Wednesday evening with a number of awards being presented as part of the festivities.
Local hockey icon Dave Siciliano served as the guest speaker for the event while City of Thunder Bay Councillor and long-time sportsman Larry Hebert served as master of ceremonies.
The following awards were presented during the banquet:
JACK GEDDES MEMORIAL AWARD: Thomas Brassard, (D) Minor Midget Kings (Presented by Derek Geddes)
ABOUT THE AWARD – The Jack Geddes Memorial Award is given annually to the player in the Thunder Bay Kings organization that demonstrates exceptional community spirit through volunteerism.
This player should also be a great teammate and a role model to their peers.
Geddes was a long-time manager and executive member in the Kings organization that gave back to our community selflessly.
He was a strong believer in the Kings program and the life lessons it teaches it’s players.
He felt strongly that it was very important that the players give back to the community that gives them so much.
The family along with long-time friend Darryl Blazino present annually a $1,000 scholarship to the player that truly shows the qualities that Jack would be very proud of.
WAYNE CHUCHMUCH MEMORIAL AWARD: Carter Pellerin, (F) Major Midget Kings (Presented by Trevor Mikus)
ABOUT THE AWARD: This memorial award honours the late Wayne Chuchmuch, a former executive member of the Thunder Bay Kings.
This award is presented annually to a graduating player from the Kings program, who demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence, team leadership and community service.
Meanwhile, earning the final quarterly CCM Hockey performer awards for the 2015-16 season for their contributions from each of the four Kings teams were presented to the following players:
MAJOR MIDGET – Carter Pellerin, Forward
MINOR MIDGET – Robert Tyska, Forward
BANTAM – Joseph McCollum, Defence
PEEWEE – Gage Stewart/Brayden McKever, Goaltenders

Tryouts for the Kings peewee, bantam, minor midget and major midget teams for the 2016-17 season will commence later this month.
