U-18 Kings commence campaign Saturday

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Kings under-18 team will commence their 2022-23 campaign this weekend with a two-game neutral site preseason set against the Sudbury Nickel Capitals, which will be held in Wawa.

On-ice action begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m., before the clubs wrap things up Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Sudbury are members of the Great North U18 League where the Nickel Capitals are coming off a 17-6-0 record last season and also advanced all the way to GNU18L final.

All gates proceeds from both contests between the Kings and Nickel Capitals will go directly to the Wawa Minor Hockey Association.

Meanwhile, Thunder Bay’s U15 squad will be in Duluth, Minn., for a pair of exhibition affairs versus the Minnesota Voyageurs of the state’s AAA High Performance Tier-1 League.

Play begins Saturday at 6 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 11 a.m.
