Kings to resume NAPHL play in Michigan

HUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay major and minor midget Kings are heading to suburban Detroit, Mich., this weekend to resume play in the North American Prospects Hockey League.

Round 5 of the NAPHL slate begins Friday with both Thunder Bay teams on the ice twice.

Pursuit of Excellence from Kelowna, B.C. provides the opposition for the major midget Kings in their opener, which goes at 3:15 p.m.

They will then wrap-up the day vs. the Wenatchee Wolves from Washington State at 9:15 p.m.

The minor midgets meanwhile meet the Colorado Springs Tigers at 11:15 a.m. followed by the Arizona Bobcats at 7:15 p.m.

Saturday has the under-18 Kings meeting Meier AAA from St. Louis at 1:15 p.m. before wrapping up their regular season Sunday at 9:15 a.m. against the Nashville Jr. Predators.

Awaiting the U-16 Kings Saturday will be the Everett Silvertips from Washington State at 9:15 a.m. while Thunder Bay finishes up with the Florida Alliance Sunday at 11:15 a.m.

Entering play this week the major midget Kings sit in second spot in the eight-team Elite U-18 division with an 11-4-0-1 record while the minors are in top spot in the six-squad U-16 Elite group having gone 10-5-0-1 to date.

Both clubs will also return to Michigan in mid-February for the NAPHL’s Dixon Cup championship tournament.
