Kings wrap-up opening round of GTHL play

THUNDER BAY – Finishing up their initial round of Greater Toronto Hockey League action over the weekend, the Thunder Bay under-18 and U15 Kings returned home with an overall record of 3-5.

U15 WRAP

Thunder Bay began with a 5-2 setback at the hands of the Toronto Red Wings.

Notching the Kings’ tallies were Bentlee Wiwcharyk and Liam Maxwell while netminder Kainaan Macgillivray got the start in goal.

They were then bounced 7-1 by the Don Mills Flyers with Jack Koski notching the lone marker in defeat.

A third straight defeat saw them edged 5-3 versus the Mississauga Rebels.

Koski, Gavin Godick and Cullen McCormack were credited with the Thunder Bay goals.

Finishing strong, the Kings finished off their weekend with a 3-1 triumph against the North York Rangers.

Converting in the victory were Mason Glousher, Owen Trevisanutto and Carson Clarke, while Macgillivray collecting the win between the pipes.

U18 WRAP

Meeting the Reps Hockey Clubs in their opener, the under-18 Kings fell 5-1 with Aiden Edwards connecting for Thunder Bay.

Bouncing back, they won both games they played Saturday, crowning the Toronto Marlboros 3-1 and then shutting out the Toronto Red Wings 2-0.

In the triumph over the Marlboros, Nick Webb recorded the win while Moe Ktytor, Landon Hanson and Luca Jedruch scored.

They then saw Kayo Lake post the shutout over the Red Wings.

Continuing with balanced scoring, Nathan Allan and Jacob Witiluk collected the markers for Thunder Bay.

They did however suffer a 5-1 loss to North York to finish up, Sunday.

Layton Hanson gave the Kings an early lead, but the Rangers broke it open with a four-goal second stanza to secure the victory.

NEXT UP

The U15 Kings resume GTHL competition October 25-27 with a four-game set while the under-18s will do likewise November 8-10.
