Kings victorious to wrap-up Round 2 of NAPHL competition

LAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Kings finished another successful run in North American Prospect Hockey League in Blaine, Minn., as both the major and minor midget clubs wrapped up the Round 2 portion of the schedule with victories Monday.

The majors rolled over the Florida Alliance 7-2 in under-18 action while the minor midget Kings blanked the Colorado Springs Tigers 2-0 in U-16 play.

In the one-side decision over Florida, the Kings got a pair of goals and an assist from Dawson Lampi while Nikolas Campbell tallied once and dished out a pair of helpers.

Gareth Aegard, Nicholas DeGrazia, Travis Hensrud and Cole MacKenzie also scored for Thunder Bay while Eric Vanska picked up the win in net for the Kings.

In Thunder Bay’s U-16 triumph over Colorado Springs, Julien Lefebvre posted the shutout as he blanked the Tigers.

After a scoreless first frame, Alex Atwill notched the eventual game-winner early in the second stanza.

Teammate Shaymus Stevenson added the other Kings marker later in the session to round out the scoring.

Through Round 2 competition, Thunder Bay sits in second spot in the U-18 Elite Division with a 6-2 record while the U-16 Kings are first in their group at 6-1-1.

Of note, DeGrazia and Campbell are tied for second in overall U-18 scoring with 10 points apiece while Lampi shares eighth spot with eight points to his credit.

Round 3 of the NAPHL goes Nov. 9-12 in Dallas, Texas.
