Kings fall in Sudbury finale

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay bantam Kings wrapped up play at the Sudbury AAA Showcase Sunday with their only loss of the weekend as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the North Bay Trappers.

The Kings finished the five-team event with a 3-1 record in four games after registering earlier decisions over the Timmins Eagles, Soo Thunder and host Nickel City Sons.

Sunday’s affair saw North Bay grab a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

Thunder Bay pulled closer with the lone tally in the middle stanza Dawson Lampi was set-up by Alex Pineau with a couple minutes remaining in the session.

Heading into the third the Trappers pulled out the victory with a couple of late goals, including one into an empty net, to round out the scoring.

Connor Lemieux suffered the setback in net for the Kings.

Next up for the bantam squad, in terms of out of town competition, will be the North American Prospects Hockey League Showcase Oct. 21-23 in Blaine, Minn.
