THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay under-15 Kings returned home with a respectable 1-1-2 record against Greater Toronto Hockey League opponents over the weekend.
They started off by skating to a 3-3 tie Friday with the Toronto Young Nationals.
Scoring for Thunder Bay were Cooper Disher; Brady Nash and Keegan Bragnalo, while Michael Figliomeni dished out a couple of assists.
Next came a 3-2 victory over the Mississauga Senators Saturday in a contest that saw Preston Newbold and Caden McLeod notch the first two markers and featured Bragnalo picking up the game-winner, to go with a pair of earlier helpers.
Later that same day, the Kings were doubled up 4-2 by the North York Rangers with Kellan Ozerkevich and Figliomeni getting the goals.
The U15s then played to a low-scoring 1-1 result Sunday vs. the Vaughan Kings.
Finding the back of the net for Thunder Bay was Bragnalo.
As for Thunder Bay U16 side, they went 1-2-1 in GTHL play.
They began with a 3-1 setback versus the Toronto Titans, then dropped a 4-1 decision to the Toronto Red Wings.
Finishing on a positive note, they defeated Reps Hockey Club 3-2 prior to settling for a 2-2 draw with the Mississauga Senators.
Meanwhile, the results weren’t as positive for the under-18 Kings, who dropped all four contests they had.
Losses to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (8-2); Don Mills Flyers (8-3); Toronto Titans (4-3) and the Mississauga Senators (8-0) completed the 2023 portion of their GTHL slate.
The Kings will resume play in the provincial capital the January 5-7 weekend, with the U13s, U15s and U16s taking part.
As for the under-18 squad, their next action in the GTHL will be Jan. 12-14.
