Minor midget Kings clipped in shootout by California side in NAPHL action

BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay minor midget Kings scored in the game’s first minute, but that’s all they would get in regulation and overtime as they dropped a 2-1 shootout decision to the California Titans Sunday afternoon in North American Prospects Hockey League action in Blaine, Minn.

It took the Kings just 22 seconds to get on the board in this one as Nicholas Hahkala notched his sixth in NAPHL play to give Thunder Bay an early lead.

The offense dried up from there however with the only other marker coming 13:13 into the middle session by California’s James Spaargaren.

Titans netminder Jay Pacheco turned in a solid performance making 30 stops along with three more in the shootout to earn the win.

Christian Cicgoi suffered the loss for the Kings making 23 saves along the way in defeat.

The minor midgets wrap up their second round of NAPHL play Monday at 10:30 a.m. against the Valley Forge Minutemen.
