ERIE, Penn. – Day 2 of the 2022 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft started off in a big way for the Erie Otters – figuratively and physically.

In the 5th Round, with the 85th overall pick, Erie selected its first defenseman of the 2022 Priority Selection in 15-year-old Nicholas Holomego (Thunder Bay Kings U16 AAA).

General Manager Dave Brown and Director of Hockey Operations Scott Grieve made the selection official early Friday morning, for day two of the 2022 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft.

The Thunder Bay, Ont., product Holomego measures in at 6’3 ½“, 189 lbs., and had a solid season with the U16 Kings.

In 40 games played in the 2021-22 season, Holomego would grab 20 points (7G+13A). Co-Director of Scouting Devin Brown commended the newest member of the Otter blueline on his ability.

“Nicholas has great attributes such as his size and reach.” said Brown, “He sees the ice well, makes nice outlet passes, is an integral part of his team, and very frustrating player for opponents to play against.”
