U-18 Kings in Minnesota for initial games vs. North Star Academy

LEXANDRIA, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Happy Time Tours major midget Kings are in Alexandria, Minn., this weekend for the three-game set vs. the North Star Academy Knights prep school program.

The first-ever meeting between the Kings and Knights goes tonight at 8 p.m. ET.

Saturday sees the clubs facing off at the same time before they wrap-up the series Sunday at 1 p.m.

North Star Academy will return the favour by heading to the Lakehead to cap off a home-and-home Feb. 28-29 and March 1 at Fort William First Nation Arena.

Entering Friday’s match-up, the Knights boast an impressive 37-4 record and are ranked second among independent U.S. prep schools and 14th in USA Hockey under-18 play.

As for Thunder Bay, they are 2019-20 regular season title holders in the U-18 Elite Division of the North American Prospects Hockey League.

They’ll then look to defend the U-18 Dixon Cup championship then won last year next weekend in Troy, Mich.

GIVING BACK: Meanwhile the Thunder Bay Dairy Farmers peewee Kings will be hosting a food drive Saturday (Feb. 8) at Westfort Foods from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., where all food items collected will be donated to the St. Andrew Dew Drop Inn.

The St. Andrew Soup Kitchen feeds on average 250 to 300 hungry men, women and children daily.

Last year over 90,000 meals were served by individual volunteers, church and community groups and the organization relies heavily on community funding and food donations, as they do not receive government funding.

The Kings’ players will be doing their part Saturday, giving back to the community.
