Unbeaten Majors clip Thistles in U13 provincial play

THUNDER BAY – The unbeaten Markham Majors improved to 3-0 at the All-Ontario under-13 AAA championship, presented by BioSteel, Thursday afternoon after clipping the Kenora Thistles 10-1.

Cam Johnson staked the Majors to the lead 9:14 into the proceedings, only to see Tanner Vincent bang one in for the Thistles, on the power play, less than a minute later.

Taking over from there, the Greater Toronto Hockey League champions connected three times before the opening frame came to a close, thanks to Johnson, Jack Samek and Konstantantinos Housseas.

Adding to the Markham cushion in the second period were Jaxson Staley, Antonio Schiavo, Shane Roche and Cribari.

Houssaes and Mason Willet then rounded out the afternoon’s scoring in the third.

Majors goalkeeper Dylan Sack picked up the victory.

Markham’s Colton Cribari was earned player of the game recognition for his side, while Kenora goaltender Maddox Boutette’s 50-save effort saw him collect the accolades for his club.
