THUNDER BAY – A pair of weekend events away from home saw the Thunder Bay under-14 and U15 Kings finish up against U.S. competition with five wins and two defeats.
The U14s took part in the Tigers Jamboree in Princeton, Minn., compiling a 2-2 record while the U15 side swept a three-game set against the Madison Capitols in Wisconsin.
Taking on the River Lakes Stars in the opener in Princeton, Brysen Beaucage was credited with four goals in a 5-3 victory.
Jagger Hautenen notched the other marker in the result while netminder Corey Cava made 18 saves in picking up the win.
Next up saw Laird Morden post the shutout as Thunder Bay blanked the Sauk Rapids Storm 5-0.
Beaucage banged in two more tallies in the triumph with Nathan Pugliese, Kaden Clower and Cruz Obie supplying singles.
You also had Jones Kochan dish out three assists to help lead the offensive cause.
The Kings were then clipped 4-1 by the Anoka Tornadoes in a contest that saw Clower collect the lone goal for the club, with help from Obie.
Cava faced 24 shots-against in the setback.
They then finished up with a 5-3 loss at the hands of the host Princeton Tigers.
Scoring for the squad were Hautenen, Beaucage and Allister Knutsen, while Morden saw 25 pucks fired his way in the setback.
Meanwhile in Madison, Thunder Bay was all business, bouncing the Capitols by scores of 7-2, 9-1 and 10-1.
There were 11 different goal-getters for the Kings over the course of the three match-ups, led by Ryder Milani and Cullen McCormack who picked up five apiece.
Luke Ritson had four; Alex Simeoni with three while Bentlee Wiwcharyk and Jesse Ukrainec had two each.
Also finding the back of the net were Mathew Koch; Cole Witiluk; Reid Kashak; Lucas Degroot and Aidan Lane.
Maddox Boutette picked up two of the wins in net, with Declan Scott collecting the other victory.
