Kings season comes to a close with loss to Don Mills Flyers at peewee provincials

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Kings season came to a close Thursday at the 2016 all-Ontario peewee championship in Sudbury after they were humbled 8-0 by a powerful Don Mills Flyers squad.

The Greater Toronto Hockey League champion Flyers took early control of the contest outshooting the Kings 14-6 in the first period, which produced three goals.

Alex Christopoulos tallied twice in the frame for the Flyers while Liam Arnsby supplied a single.

It was more Don Mills in the middle session as they tacked on four more markers, including two more by Christopoulos to give him four for the afternoon.

Also scoring for the Flyers in the frame was Edward Moskowitz and Callum Jarvis.

Moskowitz also dished out four assists in the game for a five-point day.

Ethan Yakimchick rounded out the scoring in the third.

Shots on goal favoured the Flyers by a 41-17 margin with Ben Lottman posting the shutout.

Brayden McKever and Gage Stewart both saw action in defeat for the Kings.

Don Mills finished the round robin in first place in the seven-team event with a perfect 6-0 record as they move on to semifinal play Friday morning.

As for Thunder Bay, they wrapped up competition with a 0-4-2 mark in six outings.
