Silver Stick awaits minor midget Kings in Whitby

WHITBY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay minor midget Kings are in Whitby this weekend for their first tournament action of the season as they take part in the annual Silver Stick event in the southern Ontario community.

Thunder Bay opens up play tonight at 6:45 p.m. as they take on the Toronto Titans.

A pair of contests will be on the Kings’ docket Friday, beginning with an 8 a.m. encounter with the Guelph Gryphons before meeting the Kingston Jr. Gaels in a 4:30 p.m. start.

They’ll then square off against Detroit Honeybaked Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to conclude round robin play.

A total of 28 teams are competing in the minor midget division in search of the championship.

The top eight teams will advance to the quarter-finals, which will be held Saturday night, while the semifinals and the title game are slated for Sunday.
