Bantam Kings roll to 1st win at NAPHL Futures tourney

BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay bantam Kings earned their first win at the North American Prospects Hockey League’s Future Prospects tournament in Blaine, Minn., in impressive fashion Friday as they blasted the Wenatchee Wolverines 14-1.

With the result, the Kings are now 1-1 at the tourney heading into Day 2 play Saturday as they take on the West Coast Renegades from Utah at 6:30 p.m.

In Friday’s match-up with the Wolverines, Thunder Bay took control early grabbing a 6-1 lead after one period of play on a pair of markers from Mackenzie Sedgwick along with singles courtesy of Alex Atwill, Nikolas Campbell, Owen Perale and Matthew Halushak.

The romp continued in the middle session with the Kings tacking on four more, which saw Dawson Lampi score twice while Konner Kuuskivi and Perala also found the back of the net.

Thunder Bay then finished things off in the third with Michael Stubbs striking twice and Nicholas DeGrazia and Campbell once.

Travis Hensrud dished out three assists for the Kings in the one-sided triumph.

Conner Lemieux was the winning goaltender.
