Bantam Kings take Star of the North tournament opener in OT

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – The Thunder Bay bantam Kings are off to a winning start at Star of the North tournament in Grand Rapids, Minn., after defeating the Fargo Freeze 3-2 in overtime Friday.

Owen Belisle notched the game-winner 29 seconds into the extra session with the sides playing three skaters aside.

Belisle also had an earlier tally in the contest and helped set-up Levi Siau for the other Kings marker.

Siau chipped in with two helpers while Zach Fortin added an assist in the victory.

Fargo outshot Thunder Bay 25-21 overall with Jordan Smith making 23 stops to record the decision.

The Kings are back at it twice Saturday beginning with an 11:30 a.m. encounter vs. the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars.

That will be followed up with a 7 p.m. match-up against the Mahtomedi Zephyrs.
