THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay under-18 Kings have four Greater Toronto Hockey League contests on their docket this weekend in southern Ontario.
They’ll begin with a Friday evening encounter versus the second-place Toronto Marlboros at 8:40 p.m.
Saturday sees a pair of match-ups on the U18 slate as they take on the Vaughan Kings, in a 10:45 a.m. start, before meeting the North York Rangers at 4:15 p.m.
Thunder Bay then wraps things up Sunday against the Toronto Young Nationals at 12:30 p.m.
THE WEEK THAT WAS: A trio of Kings’ teams saw GTHL action last week.
The under-15 side went 1-3 in a four game set.
They dropped a 6-1 result to the Toronto Red Wings, with Jace Voortman notching the lone Thunder Bay tally.
Next came a 4-1 setback against the Toronto Titans as Voortman once again scored for the Kings.
In a solid defensive effort vs. the Mississauga Rebels, a third period goal off the stick of Brayden Hodges, along with the shutout goaltending of Luukas Moffat, was the difference in a narrow 1-0 victory.
North York then added a shutout of their own Sunday, in blanking the U15s 5-0.
As for the U13s, they went 1-2-1, falling 4-0 to the Young Nationals, skating to a 2-2 draw vs. the Mississauga Senators, being edged 3-1 by the Toronto Red Wings, and defeating North York by a same 3-1 count.
Meanwhile, the U16 Kings went winless, suffering losses to the Toronto Titans (4-0); Young Nationals (7-1); Vaughan (6-1) and the Marlboros (6-0).
