Peewee Kings split first two games in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – The Thunder Bay peewee Kings have split their first two contests of a four-game set in Duluth, Minn.

Taking to the ice twice Saturday against the Duluth East Greyhounds peewee side, Thunder Bay dropped a 2-1 decision in the opener before pulling out a 3-2 victory in overtime in the club’s second contest of the day.

In Game 1 vs. Duluth, Tyler Lewis notched the lone tally for the Kings in defeat with Brayden McKever suffering the setback in net.

The finale with the Greyhounds saw Jeremy Dunmore supply all three goals for Thunder Bay, including the game-winner in OT.

Gage Stewart earned the decision between the pipes.

The Kings wrap-up their trip with two more games Sunday.

They’ll take on the Hermantown Hawks in Duluth at 9 a.m. before finishing up by making the short jaunt to nearby Cloquet to tangle with the hometown Lumberjacks at 1p.m.

Meanwhile the Thunder Bay major midget Kings dropped the first of three games against the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-18 side by a 6-2 count Saturday afternoon in Faribault, Minn.

They’ll meet again Saturday at 9:30 p.m. before concluding the three-game series Sunday at noon at the Shattuck Ice Arena.
