Peewee provincials begin Monday for Kings in Toronto

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Kings are off to Toronto this weekend as they get set to begin play at the 2017 all-Ontario peewee championship at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, formally Maple Leaf Gardens.

Game action for Thunder Bay starts Monday at 12:45 p.m. as they take on the Hamilton Huskies.

A pair of match-ups will then await the Hockey Northwestern Ontario peewee champions Tuesday.

They’ll meet the Ajax-Pickering Raiders at 8 a.m., which will be followed by a 3 p.m. encounter with the Soo Greyhounds.

The Kings have a tough test scheduled Wednesday as they’ll square off against the two Greater Toronto Hockey League participants at the seven-team event.

First up will be the Toronto Jr. Canadiens at 10:45 a.m. before they conclude the day vs. the host Don Mills Flyers at 4 p.m.

Thunder Bay will then wrap-up round robin play Thursday at 11:30 a.m. against the Eastern Ontario Wild from Rockland, Ont.

The top four teams will advance to semifinal competition Friday morning with the medal games going later that same day.
