Kings fall in OT in Brandon Tournament of Champions semifinal

BRANDON, Man. – The Thunder Bay peewee Kings run at the Tournament of Champions in Brandon, Man., came to an end Sunday after they let a three-goal lead get away and fell 4-3 in overtime to the Warman Wildcats of Saskatchewan in semifinal play.

Thunder Bay took a 1-0 lead after one period of play on a Jack Pineau goal that was assisted by Josh Lehto.

The Kings then went up 3-0 before the second stanza was five minutes old on markers from Owen Loubier and Zach Biniaris.

Connor Chisholm set-up the Loubier tally while Alex Remenda had a helper on the third goal.

Warman began their comeback 32 seconds after Biniaris scored and the Wildcats tacked on two more later in the frame to tie things up.

Then after a scoreless third, Warman completed the comeback 54 seconds into extra time on Parker Lalonde’s third goal and fourth point of the day to end it with the clubs playing three skaters aside.

Oliver Tuchenhagen suffered the setback in net for Thunder Bay.

The Kings finished the 10-team tourney with a 3-1-1 record with the semifinal result being their only loss.
