Major midget Kings take 2 of 3 from Shattuck-St. Mary’s

FARIBAULT, Minn. – The Thunder Bay major midget Kings took two of three games against the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres AAA midget side over the weekend at the SSM Ice Arena in Faribault, Minn.

Thunder Bay won the opener 3-0 Saturday, dropped the second contest 4-2 later in the day before earning a 3-2 shootout triumph on Sunday.

In Game 1 Ryan Fanti posted the shutout while the Kings got goals from Jacob Brown, Matthew Caruso and Baldino Aiello.

Action in Game 2 saw Cody Bruchkowski and Brown notch the Thunder Bay markers while Fanti suffered the setback in net.

Sunday’s finale featured Quintin-Loon Stewardson supply the difference maker in the shootout while Garrett Gammond and Logan Mihalcin scored in regulation.

Elijah Loon-Stewardson picked up two assists along the way.

Fanti was between the pipes once again in registering the victory.

The Kings now return home for a couple days before they head to Troy, Mich., for the North American Prospects Hockey League under-18 conference playoffs.

Thunder Bay’s minor midget squad will also in Troy competing in the NAPHL’s U-16 division.
