Bantam Kings fall to Alaska in NAPHL Futures final

BLAINE, Minn. – Hunter Strand had a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Alaska Oilers to a 4-1 victory over the Thunder Bay bantam Kings Monday in the championship game of the North American Prospects Hockey League’s Futures tournament in Blaine, Minn.

Alaska struck first in the contest as they grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Strand and Nicholas Ostbloom.

Connor Ehmann put the Oilers up by three early in the middle stanza before Mason Bazaluk got one back for the Kings at 8:10 of the session.

Strand then capped things off with a shorthanded effort in the third to round out the scoring.

Alaska outshot the Thunder Bay 26-13 with Stephan Bourgeois suffering the loss in net.

Next up for the bantam Kings will be the Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury Nov. 3-6.
