Kings to host 2018 TELUS CUP West Regional

THUNDER BAY – Hockey Northwestern Ontario has announced the Thunder Bay Kings will host the 2018 TELUS Cup Midget AAA West Regional April 5-8, 2018.

The Kings will be joined by qualifying teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Kenora Thistles.  

The winner will represent the West at the 2018 TELUS Cup – National Midget Championship taking place in Sudbury, Ont. from April 23-29, 2018.  

Thunder Bay previously won the Air Canada Cup twice (1995 & 1997) and captured silver on two occasions (1992 & 1996) as well as a pair bronze medals (1988 & 1983).

The tournament changed names from the Air Canada Cup to TELUS Cup in 2004.  

The Kings last hosted the West Regional in 2003.

“We’re eager to create a memorable experience for all the participants and visitors coming to the West Regional,” said Gary Linquist, president of the Kings.

“This is a great opportunity for our major midget program and we are looking forward to hosting the top midget AAA teams in the West,” added Linquist.
