Peewee Kings advance to Minnesota Gone Wild final with OT win Sunday

BLAINE, Minn. – A Mannerplaw Winning goal with 2:44 remaining in overtime lifted the Thunder Bay peewee Kings to a dramatic 2-1 victory over the San Diego Jr. Gulls Sunday evening in the semifinal of the Minnesota Gone Wild tournament, powered by OneHockey in Blaine, Minn.

Thunder Bay will now advance to take on Omaha AAA of Nebraska in the championship game Monday morning at 9 a.m.

In the semifinal contest, it was scoreless after one period of play while San Diego scored with 25 seconds left in the middle session to go up 1-0.

The Kings battled back in the third to force extra time as Jett Mintenko notched the equalizer with 6:34 remaining in regulation on assists from Josh Lehto and Jack Pineau.

They then won it in OT on Winning’s game-winner to send the squad to the final.

Oliver Tuchenhagen earned the victory in net for Thunder Bay.
