Kings to commence NAPHL play Thursday in Blaine, Minn.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay major and minor midget Kings are off to the Schwan Super Rinks in Blaine, Minn., later in the week to commence 2017-18 regular season play in the North American Prospects Hockey League.

This marks the third straight year that the Kings’ under-18 and under-16 sides will compete in the NAPHL.

Game action for the major midgets begins Thursday evening at 9 p.m. as they take on the Minnesota Magicians.

Up next will feature a 6 p.m. start Friday vs. the MHA U-18 side from Michigan.

Thunder Bay then takes on the Arizona Bobcats Saturday at 9 p.m. before concluding the weekend with a 12 p.m. encounter Sunday against the Dallas Blackhawks.

As for the minor midget Kings, they will meet the California Titans Thursday at 11 a.m. before facing off with the Connecticut Elite Friday morning at 8 a.m.

From there the MDHL of Michigan will provide the opposition for the U-16s Saturday at noon and they will then wrap-up the first of five NAPHL regular season events Sunday at 10:15 a.m. as they take on the Washington Capitals.

This past weekend saw the major midgets drop a three-game set in Winnipeg vs. the Rink Hockey Academy Nationals by scores of 4-3, 4-2 and 8-1 while the minors dropped a pair of close match-ups at home against the Fort Frances Muskies High School team by counts of 3-1 and 3-2, in overtime, Saturday before skating to a 3-3 draw in the finale Sunday.
