OHL Cup awaits U16 Kings

TORONTO – The Thunder Bay under-16 Kings are set to compete in the OHL Cup Showcase that runs Monday through Saturday at the Scotiabank Pond in Toronto.

A total of 25 AAA teams from across Ontario and the United States will take part in the six-day event.

Thunder Bay will open Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. against the TPH Thunder, that currently features 15 programs across the U.S., as well as one in London, Ont.

Kings’ alumnus Ryan McCormack was one of the original co-founders of TPH, following his NCAA hockey playing days at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

A two-game slate is on tap for the U16s Tuesday.

They’ll meet the London Jr. Knights at 8:30 a.m. before wrapping up the day versus a OHL Cup Wildcard side at 7:15 p.m.

From there, a 3:30 p.m. encounter Wednesday with the Don Mills Flyers will see Thunder Bay conclude round robin competition.

Further games for the U16 Kings will be determined on their record in their initial four contests.
