Thunder Bay falls to 1-1 at peewee provincials

ESSEX, Ont. – The Mississauga Reps used the strength of a five-goal first period to help send them on their way to an 8-1 triumph over the Thunder Bay Kings Monday evening in Day 1 at the All-Ontario Peewee Hockey Championship in Essex, Ont.

Brady Butvin set-up Carter Anton for a power play tally in the opening frame to account for the Kings’ lone marker of the contest.

Oliver Tuchenhagen suffered the loss in net for Thunder Bay.

With the result the Kings’ record falls to 1-1 after they began the seven-team event with a 4-2 victory over the Nickel City Sons of Sudbury earlier in the day.

Tuesday sees the club take on the host Sun County Panthers at 2 p.m. while the team’s lone match-up Wednesday will be against the Kitchener Jr. Rangers at noon.
