Bantam Kings off to Michigan for Silver Stick
Minor & major midget sides to host Shattuck-St. Mary’s

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay bantam Kings will see their first tournament action of 2018 later this week as they travel to Port Huron, Mich., to compete in the International Silver Stick event.

Thunder Bay opens up competition Thursday at 8:20 p.m. as they take on Canton Victory Honda from Michigan.

Friday has the Kings taking to the ice twice beginning with a noon match-up vs. the Brantford 99ers before finishing up against the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite at 6:40 p.m.

They will then wrap-up round robin competition with a 12:20 p.m. encounter with Detroit Belle Tire on Saturday.

A total of 32 AAA bantam sides will be vying for the title with quarter-final play going Saturday night while semifinal action and the championship game are slated for Sunday.

Meanwhile both the Kings major and minor midget teams will be at home for a pair of two-game sets against the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres from Faribault, Minn., at Fort William First Nation Arena.

The minor midgets meet Shattuck’s under-16 squad Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

As for the major midgets, they’ll take on the U-18 Sabres Saturday at 8 p.m. before concluding things Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
