HUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Kings AAA hockey program has announced the coaching staffs for its two midget teams for the 2018-19 season.
Back as head coach of the major midget squad will be Darrin Nicholas while former Kings players Chris Bruno and Cody Kostecki are the assistant coaches.
Also joining the staff for next season will be Jeremy Adduono who will serve as skills coach for the team.
Adduono spent 11 years playing professionally in both North America and Europe after starring in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sudbury Wolves where he was team captain in his final year, which was a 106-point campaign.
He was also named SIJHL coach of the year back in 2014-15.
Another former team standout in Andrew Fernandez, who went on to play NCAA Division I hockey on scholarship at Northern Michigan University on defence, has been added as the under-18 club’s strength and conditioning coach.
Rounding out the staff will be manager and trainer Rob Metzger.
Meanwhile heading up the minor midget program next season as head coach will be Bill Nichol.
Former Thunder Bay Flyers and Senators standout defenceman Chris Hynnes will serve as Nichol’s assistant and Mike Sargent is the team manager.
Other members of the staff, including the club’s trainer, as well as the coaching staffs of the Kings AAA bantam and peewee sides will be announced at a later date.
Both the major and midget Kings will compete in the North American Prospects Hockey League in 2018-19.
The Kings, along with Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association and Hockey Northwestern Ontario will also host the TELUS Cup Canadian National Midget Hockey Championship April 22-28, 2019 at the Fort William Gardens.
