HUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Happy Time Tours major midget Kings are off to Troy, Mich., this weekend as they look to repeat as North American Prospects Hockey League Dixon Cup champions.
The Kings, who captured their initial NAPHL under-18 playoff crown in 2019, will begin their quest for another title Friday morning at 8:15 a.m. as they take on the 95 Giants U-18 side from Massachusetts.
Later in the day, they’ll square off against the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 6 p.m.
They’ll then wrap-up round robin play Saturday at 12:15 p.m. vs. CarShield AAA from St. Louis.
Thunder Bay finished the regular season in top spot in the NAPHL’s U-18 Elite Division standings with a league-best 15-5-0 record.
Meanwhile the Sportop Kings’ minor midget team will also be in Troy, vying for the title in the under-15 division.
They too will commence competition Friday as they meet the Everett Silvertips from Washington State at 11:10 a.m.
South Dakota’s Sioux Falls Power will then provide the opposition at 8 p.m. before they tangle with the Carshield AAA’s U-15s Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
Thunder Bay ended up third in their division this season with a 7-4-1 mark.
Playoff round action goes Sunday with the U-15 final going that night while the U-18 championship game is slated for Monday morning.

Also this weekend, the Thunder Bay Dairy Farmers peewee Kings will be in Duluth for a four-game weekend set vs. the Duluth East Greyhounds and the Hermantown Hawks.
Saturday sees the Kings and Greyhounds facing off at 4:30 p.m. ET before they meet Hermantown at 10:15 p.m. ET.
Sunday’s docket has Thunder Bay and Duluth playing at 10:30 a.m. before the Kings and Hawks conclude things at 3 p.m.
