Thunder Bay slips to 0-3 at bantam provincials

ORILLIA, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Kings dropped a pair of decisions Tuesday in Day 2 play at 2018 All-Ontario Bantam Championship in Orillia, Ont.

Thunder Bay began by falling 5-1 to the Waterloo Wolves before suffering a 4-1 setback at the hands of the Whitby Wildcats later in the day.

Against Waterloo, the Kings fell behind early as the Wolves scored 32 seconds into the contest.

Thunder Bay came back with the equalizer 10 minutes later as Tyler Lewis and Jacob Sargent combined to set-up Nolan Desjardins.

However Waterloo picked up the eventual game-winner in the final minute of the first period.

They then added another marker in the middle session and two more in the final frame to secure the victory.

Brayden McKever suffered the setback in net for the Kings.

In the meeting with Whitby, the contest was scoreless after one before Brenden Sirizotti tallied twice in the second stanza to put the Wildcats up by a pair.

Jeremy Dunmore buried an Alex Atwill feed 3:23 into the third to bring Thunder Bay to within one, but Whitby came right back just over a minute later to restore their two-goal cushion.

Sirizotti then iced it with a late empty netter to finish off a hat trick and complete his team’s triumph.

Gage Stewart suffered the loss in goal for the Kings.

Wednesday’s lone match-up for the club will be vs. the Nickel City Sons from Sudbury at 2 p.m.

They will then wrap-up round robin competition Thursday as they take on the Ottawa Valley Titans at 10 a.m. before finishing up with the Don Mills Flyers of Toronto at 4 p.m.
