Mark Barstead

Coach Mark was born and raised in Wawa, ON, where he grew up playing hockey. He moved to Thunder Bay in 1991 and started his 31 year career in Corrections, retiring as the Deputy Superintendent of the Thunder Bay Jail. Mark is currently embarking on his second career with the Thunder Bay Police Service as a Special Constable.

Through his career, Mark helped coordinate the annual hockey game at the Correctional Centre and the Annual Law Enforcement Hockey Tournament. He coached the Fort William Hurricanes and several of his daughter’s hockey teams at the U13, U15 and U18 divisions with Thunder Bay Women’s Hockey Association.

Mark is a big believer in TEAM, health and fitness, development of friendships and making connections within your community. He is honoured to be an Assistant Coach with a great group of young athletes.
