Major midget Kings fall to New Jersey in NAPHL play

BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay major midget Kings suffered a 6-4 setback at the hands of the New Jersey Titans Sunday in North American Prospects Hockey League play Sunday in Blaine, Minn.

New Jersey opened the scoring 5:19 into the contest before Robert Tyska tied it for the Kings at 8:33.

After the Titans went back in front, Jayden Wojciechowski drew Thunder Bay level a minute and a half later only to see New Jersey go back in front before the first was complete.

The Titans then tacked on two more in the second to make it 5-2 before Quintin Loon-Stewardson connected on the power play late in the session to move his club closer.

In the third Elijah Loon-Stewardson made it 5-4 with 3:46 remaining to give him three points in the game, but New Jersey iced it with an empty netter late to complete the day’s scoring.

Ryan Fanti suffered the loss for the major midgets allowing five against on 15 attempts while Seth McKay made five stops in nearly 25 minutes of relief.

The Kings return to the ice at 8:30 p.m. tonight as they take on Pursuit of Excellence of Kelowna, B.C. before finishing up Monday with a 12:30 p.m. contest vs. the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres U-18 side.
