All 4 Kings teams in action this weekend

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – All four of the Thunder Bay Kings AAA teams will be on the ice in Minnesota this weekend against various competition.

The Kings major and minor midget sides along with their bantam counterparts will be in Blaine, Minn., as part of the latest round of North American Prospects Hockey League while the peewee Kings are off to vie for the title in the annual Spirit of Duluth tournament.

Thunder Bay’s major midget under-18 side resumes NAPHL play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when they take on Meier AAA of Michigan at 2:30 p.m.

Two more tilts will be on the club’s docket Sunday starting with an 8:30 a.m. match-up vs. the California Titans before meeting Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Rough Riders at 4:30 p.m.

They will then finish up Monday at 8:30 a.m. against the New Jersey Titans.

As for the under-16 minor midget Kings, the Northern Cyclones of New Hampshire will provide the opposition Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Following that will be a 6:30 p.m. face-off against Rough Mountain later in the day.

Sunday’s lone contest for the Kings has them taking on the St. Louis Selects at 2:30 p.m. before they conclude with HC Dallas Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Also in Blaine will be the bantam Kings as they’ll compete in the NAPHL’s Future Prospects event.

They will commence play Friday at 5 p.m. when they meet the Valley Forge Minutemen.

Saturday has Thunder Bay tangling with the New Jersey Titans at 10:30 a.m. and the Affton Americans of Missouri Sunday at the same time the next morning.

The two teams from each division will play in the semifinals Sunday evening with the winners there vying for the championship Monday at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile in Duluth, the peewees also begin competition Friday at 6:30 p.m. when they tangle with the Centennial Cougars.

Next up the Kings go up against two more clubs from Minnesota Saturday beginning with a 12:15 encounter vs. the Edina Hornets before finishing up round robin action against the Moorhead Spuds at 8 p.m.

They will then wrap-up the tourney Sunday against yet to be determined opponents.
