Kings cap off Round 4 of NAPHL play with wins

BLAINE, Ont. – The Thunder Bay major and minor midget Kings wrapped up Round 4 play in the North American Prospects Hockey League Monday with victories over the New Jersey Titans and HC Dallas respectively.

The major midgets defeated New Jersey 7-4 while the minor midget under-16 squad doubled up Dallas 4-2.

In the game against New Jersey, Quintan Loon-Stewardson and Logan Mihalcin struck 25 seconds apart in the first period to put Thunder Bay up by a pair.

The Titans countered with two of their own in the middle stanza to knot the affair at 2-2 after two.

Action in the final frame saw the sides open up offensively with the Kings outscoring their opponents 5-2 in the session.

Baldino Aiello had two of the tallies for Thunder Bay while Thomas Brassard, Evan Nicholas and Loon-Stewardson added the others in the third.

Garrett Gammond chipped in with two assists while Seth McKay faced 23 attempts in picking up the decision in goal for Thunder Bay.

In the U-16 game, the Kings sMARLed back from a 1-0 deficit and struck for four tallies in the second period to take control.

Keighan Gerrie started the onslaught and finished it while Ethan Carlson-Jourdain and Cooper Witherspoon also scored in the session.

Dallas got one back on the power play early in the third, but that’s as close as they would get before time expired.

Christian Cicigoi stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced to pick up the win for Thunder Bay.

ALL-STAR WRAP: The NAPHL held their annual all-star games Sunday that saw three members of the Kings take part.

Owen Belisle had a goal while Cicigoi allowed only one against in his stint in net to help Team Suter skate past Team Dixon in the U-16 all-star contest 6-2.

Meanwhile in the U-18 match-up, Loon-Stewardson was held pointless, but his Team Suter side edged Team Dixon 4-3 in overtime.
