Major midget Kings take NAPHL opener in Colorado

SUPERIOR, Colo. – Making their first-ever appearance in North American Prospects Hockey League play in Colorado, the Thunder Bay major midget Kings got off to a good start as the defeated Omaha AAA of Nebraska 4-3 Friday in Superior, Colo.

After Omaha opened the scoring 3:18 into the contest, Thunder Bay responded with markers from Justin Stewart and Baldino Aiello to go in front 2-1 after one.

Omaha countered with a couple markers of their own in the middle session to retake the lead before Robert Tyska tied with 1:48 left in the frame.

Fletcher Anderson then supplied the game-winner 84 seconds after Tyska’s effort to give the Kings the lead for the final time as the third period would go scoreless.

The major midget Kings return to the ice tonight at 9:30 p.m. as they take on the Colorado Springs Tigers.
