Minor midget Kings clipped 2-1 by Arizona in NAPHL play

SUPERIOR, Colo. – The Thunder Bay minor midget Kings dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to the Arizona Bobcats Friday in under-16 action in Round 3 of the North American Prospects Hockey League taking place in Superior, Colo.

It was tight-checking opening two periods in this one as the two sides went scoreless through the first couple frames.

The Kings broke the ice with the initial tally of the contest compliments of a Zach Fortin effort 58 seconds into the third on an assist from Owen Belisle.

Arizona came back however, tying it just over three minutes later, then getting the game-winner during a Bobcats power play with 10:02 to play.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured Arizona by a 32-21 count with Christian Cicigoi suffering the setback in net for Thunder Bay.

Up next for the U-16 Kings will be a 9:45 p.m. encounter vs. HC Dallas at 9:45 p.m. Friday evening.
