Successful weekend for U-16 Kings at home

HUNDER BAY – Making their home debut, the Thunder Bay under-16 Kings produced a successful 3-0-1 record in a four-game set vs. RINK Academy Prep School from Manitoba over the weekend at Fort William First Nation Arena.

In the opener Friday, the Kings dropped a 4-3 shootout decision.

Bryce Volbracht tallied twice in the defeat while Ben Exell notched the other marker.

Max Leduc chipped in with two assists while Carter George suffered the setback in net.

In the first of two meetings Saturday, Thunder Bay rebounded with a 5-1 victory.

Peter Forester paced the Kings with a hat trick with Nicholas Holomego and Matthew Lysak potting singles.

Carter Deschamp dished out a pair of helpers and goalkeeper Jackson Andracka turned aside 22 of the 23 shots he faced to earn the win.

Later in the day, the home side kept it going and skated to a 6-4 decision.

Holomego, with two, Lysak, shorthanded, LeDuc, Lucas Bertolin and Emerson De Giacomo all scored for Thunder Bay while George secured the win between the pipes.

They then wrapped up the get together with RINK by taking a 3-2 shootout decision on Sunday.

Bertolin and Volbracht connected in regulation while Lysak and LeDuc were the marksmen in extra shots.

Andraka was strong in net once again, saving 19 of 21 before stopping four of five in the shootout.

The U-18s had 2-1 and 4-1 wins over the Navan Grads and Cornwall Colts respectively and suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Richmond Hill Coyotes and a narrow 3-2 loss to the Mississauga Reps.
