3rd straight win for Thunder Bay at bantam Showcase in Sudbury

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay bantam Kings improved to 3-0 through Day 2 action at the Sudbury AAA Showcase being held at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex after they dropped the host Nickel City Sons 4-1 on Saturday evening.

It took Thunder Bay just over a minute and a half after the opening face-off to get on the board as Alex Atwill finished off a Nikolas Campbell feed.

Owen Perala then made it 2-0 with an unassisted effort at 9:38.

Nickel City got one back in the latter stages of the first to pull them to within one.

The Kings countered in the middle stanza as they tacked on two more on a pair of Dawson Lampi efforts to round out the scoring.

Connor Lemieux stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced to record the win for Thunder Bay who fired 37 attempts on the Sons’ net.

The Kings will look to complete a four-game sweep of northern Ontario competition as they take on the North Bay Trappers at 10 a.m. Sunday.
